Let’s get one thing out of the way right now. Blazers are not ONLY suitable as business attire. Say it to yourself again later in the mirror tonight.
This week is about the art of consignment. This is the art of buying very nice things at very nice prices. I say art because consigning is something you learn how to do and how to get good at. You can’t just walk into a consignment shop at any time, on any day of the week, anytime of year and expect to have good finds. Consigning is something you usually have to work for. You have to be looking fairly frequently and be open to finding something that you weren’t necessarily looking for.
This Ralph Lauren blazer had a tag of $44.00CAD. I ended up paying $36.00CAD because I had a nice chat with the lady who was ringing up my purchase. I definitely didn’t go into a shop planning on buying a pink linen blazer, but I was so drawn to the color. An Elle Woods moment is always welcome. Because of style, it’s a great piece for winter and business. Because of the color, it’s a great piece for summer or going out. VERSATILITY. Say it with me. The lesson here is to shop with your intuition. This is no joke, let your eyes be drawn to colors, fabrics and designs.
The skirt is here purely for a dramatic Vogue moment. I found this buried in a closet in the basement of my parents house. Turns out my Mum had made it years and years ago. The lesson here being, you don’t always have to buy new things. You can find some gems if you just take a little time. Plus, everything comes back in style again.
Oh and the bra, super old Victoria’s Secret. Nothing more to say on that because there are so many other amazing lingerie brands that I would rather give my money to.
Okay down to my favorite part, shoes. Gucci is not one of my favorite fashion houses by any stretch. That’s a topic for another week though. What I will say, Gucci made booties iconic. There’s a ring to saying the words “Gucci boot.” These bad boys had obviously only been worn to try on and then their previous owner had decided against them and I guess was too late for a return policy. Before I go on, I have a PSA: I love shoes and am willing to spend more than just good money on them. I want no judgment when I say I got these for a STEAL. $110.00CAD. For essentially a brand new Gucci boot. It was legal thievery, and I will stand for it!
One thing I do want to get out in the open about heels and good heels vs. bad heels. A nice heel is not about the shape of the heel or what it looks like. A nice heel you can feel when you walk. Literally anybody can walk in 6 inch high heels if they are made with care. THIS is where fashion houses are so unbelievably superior to whatever people buy from your local mall. I’m not saying you can’t get a cute heel there. What I am saying is unless you are buying a good quality heel, high heels will always feel too hard to walk in. You can’t reach your full catwalk potential. Let’s be honest, nobody looks good in a heel they can’t walk in. That’s the tea. I don’t make it, I just pour it. And if you got this far, you drank it right up.

For alot of people in the Canadian Prairies Lake Minnewanka is where they will do their scuba diving certification. While the scenery is beautiful year round, you can’t see even a foot in front of you through the water in the summer.
