Look 05
Let’s talk first about this week’s inspiration: Cruella Deville.
Details: Vintage fur coat, House of CB dress, BCBGMAXAZRIA hat, Giuseppe Zanotti boots.
Name a more iconic villain in fashion. I’ll wait.
Deville,
Cruella
Oh you couldn’t? Yeah me either.
Red, white and black. Classic but sexy colors. While we hate her personality, nobody can argue that a modern-day Cruella would be front row to every fashion show at fashion week, and would be THE person to be sitting next to (Besides the one and only Anna Wintour). So, shoot me. Then call me inspired.
Let’s start with the coat. Buckle in because this coat has a story close to my heart. Among my friends, I’m known to be both very relaxed and very extravagant in my style. One of my friends happened to be at a thrift store and she sees this coat. She texts me saying,
“I just found a 30$ real fur coat,
AND IT DOESN’T SMELL LIKE CAT PEE OR CIGARETTES.”
I texted her back, “Even if you only wear it once. Buy it.” The next day I see her and she says, “oh I bought you the fur coat.” Surprised because I was under the impression she was making this purchase for herself, I asked how much I owed her for the thoughtful purchase. She says “oh, 20$ maybe? It was 30$ and I had a coupon.” It’s warm, it’s a neutral color, and just another excuse to add an extravagant piece to my wardrobe. Honestly, I don’t need excuses for extravagance. I just call it living life.
The dress? It’s actually a ribbed dress, corset-style. But the fabric is nice and thick without a lot of stretch— hugging you in all the right places. The feathers on top add a nice touch to such a simple and classic cut. The below-the-knee length dress is both sexy, yet business forward. But otherwise, you can’t go wrong with a black dress. It looks good on every. Single. Person.
The brand is House of CB. The best part about the brand, in my not-so-humble opinion is this: it is clothing made by women for women. And it shows. The pieces are made to hug your curves in all the right places. The prices are a little more expensive that alot of people are used to. However, they have great sales on, they always ship and arrive quickly, plus they are super kind and understanding with returns. Who doesn’t love some good customer service?
The hat was an inpulse buy from BCBG that I have no regrets for buying. This was probably my third time wearing it. Some times you need to have items in your wardrobe that are not every day items. But it’s both fashion week chic, and beach casual. It’s called diversifying. Duh
Time for what really pulls this outfit into Cruella Deville’s world— the shoes. Or in this case boots. These Giuseppe Zanotti boots are the perfect way to elevate any monochrome outfit. Now I know what you’re all thinking, yes ALL the zippers work. Also, if y’all didn’t know already, I’m a sucker for heeled boots. They are the best way to dress up any outfit. They can be casual and dressy. Again, diversification. It’s crucial for a great wardrobe. These boots are proof of another successful consignment store trip. Retail price 1450$, consignment price… Drum roll please.
250$
Although this outfit isn’t realistic, I wore it anyways. At this point I don’t have the time or energy to not wear what I want. So this week we were all about the Cruella inspired look. Even the lipstick was speaking to me.
Location: my friends apartment where I accidentally left handprints on her wall with remnants of my makeup.
