Look 07
Today we are talking denim. What is one of my least favorite staples in my wardrobe.
I actually didn’t own jeans up until last summer. Then last Spring right before Covid, I had a couple of friends who encouraged me to splurge on some jeans, assuring me it would make me like them. Keep reading to find out if I do. This week I have three looks for you, all using the same pair of blue jeans from Rag & Bone. I like jeans because when I’m going out with my friends and I ask what everyone’s wearing, I am consistently always overdressed. Jeans are a great way to dress down any fancier outfit.
This first look features a bandeau and a black blazer, and some crisp white sneakers. Who says blazers have to be business casual? Whoever they are, they couldn’t be more wrong. The blazer dresses up the jeans, but with an extreme crop top your look is good for a night on the town. White sneakers… I’ve said it once and I will say it again. They are a requirement. They can be worn dressed up and dressed down. They are both for Milan Fashion week and for lunch with friends in LA.
The second look, we have swapped the blazer. The fabric of this blazer border on linen. You know all those cute white outfits you usually see people wearing while they’re on vacation in Miami or the South of France. That’s the fabric of the pink blazer. The color and the fabric makes the original look more casual and more playful. This is your spring/summer version of the first look. Never shy away from a bold color in a piece that everyone says is a staple. Blazers and jeans are two great examples. To my guys reading: this applies to you too. Are you on vacation somewhere hot? Jeans, blazer and some nice sneakers are literally the fashion definition of effortlessly stylish.
Look three this week, still the same jeans, but with a collared shirt, a cardigan, and a silk scarf. Collared shirt, another helpful piece that can be made both business and casual. Here I chose a more muted tone because the cardigan I had to match my silk scarf was so bright. But again, this look can be made with whatever you have available to you. MEN: This look applies to you too! Jeans a casually not fully buttoned shirt with a cardigan. This is a look for everyone! The scarf is both cute and functional. I had run out of time to wash my hair, so the scarf went perfectly with the outfit and with my greasy hair for the day.
Both my shirt and my cardigan are oversized. The belt is here so the rest of my body isn’t drowned by my oversized clothes. Buying oversized clothes is a great way to have versatility in your wardrobe. Shirt as a dress? No problem. Shirt to go to an all you can eat restaurant but also belt so accentuate your waist? We got both.
The great thing about this week’s looks, is they don’t rely on a specific piece by a specific brand. You can make your own versions of all these looks with what you already have in your closet.
Until next time!
